The Museum houses a large collection of 20th-century art. The permanent exhibition includes the Ingrao Collection, consisting of works by the greatest Italian masters of the 20th century, including Umberto Boccioni, with thirty-one paintings and drawings, Giacomo Balla, Mario Sironi, Fortunato Depero, Gino Severini, Filippo De Pisis, Carlo Carrà, Ottone Rosai, and Mario Mafai. A room dedicated to Giorgio Morandi displays three oil paintings, nine drawings, and the important correspondence between the artist and the collector Ingrao. Mino Maccari is represented with forty works, the artist’s most representative exhibition in a public museum. Francesco Ciusa, one of the greatest Sardinian artists of the 20th century, is dedicated to the room of the same name, displaying his plaster sculptures, the first nucleus of the Civic Collection of Sardinian Artists.
Outside, sculptures from the Roman era to the contemporary era: the latest acquisition, in the fountains of the Gardens, is Mimmo Paladino’s Sleepers (2011).
