The ROCK open knowledge week is a virtual conference that’s going to take place on 27-30 October 2020, bringing together city officers, policy-makers, urban researchers, cultural actors and civic changemakers from across Europe. This digital event marks the closure of the ROCK project, an Innovation Action funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme and led by the City of Bologna, engaging 33 partners across 13 countries in exploring how cultural heritage can be the driving force behind urban sustainability.
The event offers an extensive programme of 20 sessions with 50+ speakers and hundreds of participants over 4 days
As ITCares we’ll be there, in our virtual booth to present our activities, with particular regard to BOforAll, the accessible audio guide app we developed for the city of Bologna.
By using BOforAll, the user can look at pictures, watch sign language videos and gain insight into every monument. They can choose from the suggested routes, according to their interests and skills, and let themselves be guided whenever they are close to a point of interest or a place where suggestions are available.
BOforAll was created with the utmost attention to the usability and accessibility of the user interface. The descriptions themselves are the result of careful research carried out within the ROCK project which aimed to make them as accessible, effective and simple as possible.
BOforAll is not meant to be a tool for a selected few, but to become a guide for everyone: the Design For All is the right path to social inclusion.
